Hello,

I am not sure if this applies to your situation or not or if it's even helpful, but we had kernel panics on boot on 5.3 boxes after installing PSP. We booted to the older 5.2 kernel without any problems. Perhaps a kernel upgrade (or downgrade) would help you.

Something else that would help you is screenshots/photographs of the lockups on boot (kernel panic, etc). At the grub menu, you could hit the 'e' key on the top entry, then the 'e' key on the kernel line, delete the 'rhgb quiet' entries at the end of the line, then hit 'ESC' and then 'b' to boot. You will be able to see the kernel panic more easily this way as the console will be in 'text' mode instead of the fancy splash screen.

HTH

I've got 15 new DL360G5's
I've installed all of them with RHEL5.3 from our kickstart server.

When I add PSP 8.15 via install815.sh, the install crashes the server.
After about 10minutes it tries to reboot, but fails to get past HP-ILO.

This is completely repeatable.

I've tried it using a manual install from DVD
I've checked the md5sum of the PSP download
I've re-kickstarted the servers
I've seen the same behaviour on multiple servers
I've run yum update to get the latest patches
I've tried PSP 8.11 too

and it still crashes - everytime

Attached is a screenshot of the install after it crashed.

Hope someone can help
Andy
Shalom,

Question: Does the support matrix on PSP 8.15 include RHEL 5.3?

I believe the answer to that question is no.

Therefore PSP can not be installed onto a RHEL 5.3 system.

PSP installs a new kernel which can not boot RHEL 5.3

Boot the system off of install media to rescue mode, modify /boot/grub/grub.conf to boot off a non PSP kernel.

Use PSP when it is released with RHEL 5.3 support.

SEP

As far as I remember from the last installation this is related to hp-ilo module in PSP.
Just uncompress PSP, remove this rpm (hp-ilo*.rpm) and start installation.

regards,
ivan

Yes with SS8.20, it will work fine.
And also till that time you can use hp-ilo-8.1.6. this hp-ilo driver works fine with RHEL5.3
This will unistall the native driver comes along with OS and install the hp provided hp-ilo driver.
