    <description>Hi,&lt;BR /&gt;In your case, not LVM, it's not possible to extend an existing partition. So like avizen write, you had to boot your VM with a live-cd with gparted. I prefer SystemRescueCd&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;A href="http://www.sysresccd.org/Main_Page" target="_blank"&gt;http://www.sysresccd.org/Main_Page&lt;/A&gt; which contain some usefull tools like gparted.&lt;BR /&gt;So, do a backup, boot on SystemRescue CD, start gparted and resize /dev/sda3.&lt;BR /&gt;Hope it helps</description>

      <description>Hi,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I have RHEL 3 server which is a VMware-VM. I have extended the disk from VMware side by using vmkfstools command.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Now I need to extend the / filesystem whcih is not a LVM. Its mounted on /dev/sda3.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Is it possible to extend the filesys? If so, how?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Regards,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Nagu</description>

      <description>Hello Nagu,&lt;BR /&gt;you can try with this gparted you can download this s/w from internet, boot with this ISO image,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;gparted-livecd-0.3.4-11.iso&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;success ration will be 50-50&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>You have 2 ways to deal with your problem:&lt;BR /&gt;- resize your "/" (root) partition using one of suggested tools&lt;BR /&gt;- create new partition  for "/usr", so your "/" will be smaller</description>
