the sysem is hang

i have oracle 10g on the oracle Linux enterprise edition so it hang frequently .
when i try to make large input/output like full backup from database it hang or this massage is appear :
ORA-27061: waiting for async I/Os failed
Linux-x86_64 Error: 5: Input/output error

What kind of storage are you using? ASM, RAW devices, file system, ext3, OCFS, other?

Check your storage devices, specially, if you have SAN attached devices.

This problem should be reported to Metalink, this could also be an Oracle BUG or an OS patch is required.

Â¿Any related information in /var/log/messages or dmesg?

Â¿Are these local disks, storage disks?

Shalom,

I would check free space on the system.

There may not be enough free space on the file system to write the temporary files necessary for the backup.
