As CentOS aims to be 100% binary compatible with RHEL it shouldn't be a problem. What problem did you have exactly? Viewing controller status and logicaldrive status works OK but not viewing drive status.

Shalom,

hpacucli was designed specifically for Red Hat, and may not be supported on CentOS.

You may not be able to use it on CentOS.

I use CentOS myself and have run into this issue in past releases.

SEP

I know what you are saying.

It is possible to write applications that don't work with CentOS. I believe based on experience that this is one of them.

HP told me when I complained about this that the PSP compatability Matrix only applies to the OS listed on the Matrix.

So I get the binary compatibility thing. There is no bigger fan of CentOS on these forums.

This is not a problem with CentOS, its a problem with the application. There may be ways of fooling the application into working, but they are not recommended.

HP needs to hear from its user community that not supporting CentOS is unacceptable. if the customer base demands it, they normally respond.

SEP

I just remembered.

The drive may become visible to the utility if you run hp_rescan first.

That can wake up the SAN as the saying goes.

SEP

Have you done an strace on the command to see what its trying to do?

I agree though they should fully support CentOS especially considering the fact that I see United Linux, Debian Sarge and Debian Etch in the list.
