Hi,

I am configuring redhat5.3 cluster.I have configured mutipath in one node its created devices like /dev/mapper/msa0-001.I have copied /etc/multipath.conf to other nodes and restarted the service but its not creating devices in other nodes. Could you please help me to create the same in other nodes also.

regards,
Josin.

Please run "multipath -v2" and "multipath -l" and copy the output here (preferably as an attachment, if it's long).

If you want to ensure that the same disks will get the same names in all cluster nodes, verify the disk identifiers in /var/lib/multipath/bindings.

(It has been my experience that it is possible to stop the multipathd service, copy the bindings file from the working node to the other node, and then reboot. That should make sure that the /dev/mapper/* names will be exactly the same in both nodes.)

NOTE: if your /var is a separate filesystem, it may be necessary to put the bindings file in a non-default location:

http://kbase.redhat.com/faq/docs/DOC-5544

MK

go get the latest HP DM multipath kit

http://www.hp.com/go/devicemapper

I don't think the MSA1000/1500 is officially supported running device mapper. That being said I've been running the MSA1500 connected to a ProLiant running SLES10 using DM-MPIO for a few years now and it works fine.
