Shalom,

Go ahead with the OS install, though I'd pick RHEL 5.2 or above. I really never thought much of update 1 from the stability standpoint.

Then install PSP, it includes good drivers for teh HBA cards.

SEP

Dear all,

Installing RHEL 5.1 on BL685c G1 whith four QMH2462.
I feel i should be using the inbox driver which does not have the entries like qlxxx in the proc FS. Instead i can control and view everything with SYSFS. Please correct me if i'm wrong. Also please quote where to get the inbox driver for the above HBAs for RHEL 5.1.
cheers.
Hey S.E.P, thanks mate. The Tivoli software which is going be running on this box is for RHEL 5.1. I'm left with no other option.
When the HBA drivers are installed, how can i verify whether the driver, qlogic fail over is enabled or disabled?
cheers

"When the HBA drivers are installed, how can i verify whether the driver, qlogic fail over is enabled or disabled?"

Unless something changed, the inbox driver
does NOT support the failover feature. That feature is in the HP version of the driver.

Instead of using QLogic failover, you should look at using DM multipath.

Release notes for HP Device Mapper Enablment
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01762627/c01762627.pdf?jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN

HP Device Mapper Enablement Kit
http://www.hp.com/go/devicemapper
