First you install and configure Red Hat cluster suite.
Then you install Oracle software.
You have two ways how to do it.
1. Install oracle software on both nodes, beeing sure that the oracle home is
set to a local (non shared) disk.
2. Install oracle software on shared disk. This is possible only if you have cfs (cluster file system, in RH it is gfs), no RAW or ASM
And, of course install database on shared disks (storage).
Need more details?
hi,

of couse you should configure the cluster as first and them install the APP in your case Oracle RAC :

check this documents :

http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/csgfs/browse/rh-cs-en/

http://www.puschitz.com/InstallingOracle10gRAC.shtml

http://www-03.ibm.com/support/techdocs/atsmastr.nsf/WebIndex/WP101323

mikap

I dont want to use Oracle RAC, coz it requires additional license, whereas OS clustering is free.

Shalom,

first install all the needed rpms for clustering on the nodes.

then run system-config-cluster in gui mode to do the initial setup of the cluster.

Oracle Server is supported in active-passive mode in this scenario.

SEP
