Dynamic CPU Re-Allocation on Redhat under vMware?

Is this possible?

We're using vSphere (ESX 4.X) and VI does not seem to allow me to do addition or reduction of VCPUs whilst the OS is running.

I have not tried under RHEV/KVM yet but I suppose it is possible?

AFAIK you cannot dynamically add and remove CPU in a virtualized environment yet. Currently at most you can:

Apparently the high-end version of vSphere supports it for some Windows releases, but not for Linux (yet).

I think it is only available for w2k8 64 bit OS

It appears KVM since -64 supports CPU Hot Plugging. Anyone tried this yet?
