Is this possible?

We're using vSphere (ESX 4.X) and VI does not seem to allow me to do addition or reduction of VCPUs whilst the OS is running.

I have not tried under RHEV/KVM yet but I suppose it is possible?

Thanks.

AFAIK you cannot dynamically add and remove CPU in a virtualized environment yet. Currently at most you can:

http://kbase.redhat.com/faq/docs/DOC-15523

Apparently the high-end version of vSphere supports it for some Windows releases, but not for Linux (yet).

See http://communities.vmware.com/message/1274943;jsessionid=337AB5CE482B30FF9FCA4A3498893330

Thanks all...

It appears KVM since -64 supports CPU Hot Plugging. Anyone tried this yet?
