Why is RHEL 5.3 missing from the proliant support matrix? And was it ever on there?

http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/servers/linux/hplinuxcert.html

We run a number of DL360G5 and DL380G5's. So I want to know if there is a good reason to upgrade to 5.4.

Do you mean the superscript number "1,2,4" at the end of the "RedHat Enterprise Linux 5" column heading?

They are not update level identifiers: they are references to the footnotes below the table.

Footnotes 1 and 2 are about Xen support: 5.0 originally had limited HP support (no SAN, no HP management agent) for Xen, 5.2 (and presumably higher) has full support without caveats.

Footnote 4 indicates KVM virtualization is supported in RHEL 5.4 and higher.

MK

Shalom,

5.3 is supported on the Proliant server, G5 and G6.

However for factors mentioned above, you are better off if you can use update 4. There is full KVM support and greater stability, hardware support etc.

The small numbers on the matrix next to Red Hat 5 do not refer to Red Hat Linux update numbers.

SEP
