X window not working in RHEL 5?

the X window(GUI) is not working in RHEL 5..as and when linux boots in GUI , the screen gets very different graphics and could see anything at all .. so could anybody give some suggestion?

hi,

boot to runlevel 3 and set/reconfigure the Xserver configuration , and if its working it will also run on runlevel5 .

what am i actually suppose to do to reconfigure X server . how can i instal/update fresh x server. pls elaboate a bit more

Run "system-config-display" to reconfigure the X server.

If even the standard SVGA resolutions don't work on your display, you might want to use "system-config-display-tui" to open a text-based version of the X server configuration tool.
