How to enable Remote execution RHEL5 ?

Hi,

I want to be able to push some software agents to my RHEL5 without my RHEL5 requesting for username and password.

What are you doing now which causes it to ask
for these things? Telnet? rsh? ssh? ????

I am deploying HP Open View Storage Data Protector disk agent from its Installation server to another RHEL5 server. In the process, a pop-up screen is shown requesting for username and password. Even though the correct username and password is supplied, the process still reports INVALID USERNAME AND PASSWORD.

Whenever I have similar problem in HP Unix environment, I just play around files like .rhosts and host.equiv etc... and the agent is pushed successfully without even asking for username and password.

Please I need advice concerning the RHEL5 environment.

So, you're running some (unspecified)
program, and it attempts (somehow) to connect
to a remote system, and that fails?

I don't know what it's doing, and the error
message doesn't say much. I'd guess that the
documentation for this (unspecified) program
explains how it tries to do things on a
remote system, and what you would need to do
to make that work.

Those normally affect rsh/remsh. What
happens if you try a command like
rsh other_host
?

You may need to play around with the same
files on the Linux system, or you may need to
enable the RSH server on the Linux system, or
you may need to use SSH instead of RSH, or
any number of other things. You may even
need to read the instructions for the program
you're using.
