Run different version of service

I would like to ask if the server RHEL 3 support to run two different of same daemon , for example , the server have rsh-server-0.17-17.6 installed , and running as a server , can I install different version to it , and run at the same time ? thx

I've tried this before and failed.

It is a lot of work for very little payoff.

You really should be using openssh anyway.

You can't have two programs listening at the
same port on the same interface. If you can
specify particular (unique) interface/port
combinations, then you should be able to run
multiple servers of the same type. Of
course, you also need to be able to direct
the client to the desired server instance.
