      <description>no,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;you don't need pvcreate will create the structure for LVM, and of course all data will be lost, if the lun was used on another server.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;mikap</description>

      <description>There is no need to do any sort of low-level formatting for the SAN disks at the server end.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If any formatting is needed, most SAN storage systems do it internally. If the storage system uses any level of RAID technology, all the necessary formatting will be automatically done at the same time with the RAID set initialization.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Once your server sees a LUN, that LUN is ready for pvcreate (or fdisk, if you want to use it).&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;MK</description>

      <description>hi,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;you are using Clariion storage from EMC, and of course powerpath as multipath.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;so if you run the pvcreate its done.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;mikap</description>
