Hello

How do i check if necessary scsi cards installed on my workstation in order to connect to compaq DLT tape drive 40/80 model .
And how to check needed driver is installed.
This workstation runs linux suse 10

please advice

Uh, open it up and look?

There may be more than one of those, some of
which might have different interfaces. An
actual model number might be more helpful
than a vague description.

If "/sbin/lspci" shows some SCSI controller, you only have to check (either visually or by looking up the device name/type in Google) if the right connector is on the card for the cable from the DLT drive.

Once you have successfully connected your drive, SuSE 10 very likely already knows about the scsi card and then you can use your tape as /dev/st0.

"only", unless the card is single-ended and
the drive is (HV) differential, or the other
way around, or there's some other
incompatibility involving some characteristic
other than the cable connectors.

It's little details like those which make it
impossible for a non-psychic to provide a
reliable answer to a question which comes
pretty close to complete freedom from useful
information.
