topic Redhat linux 7.3 on a xw6000 in Operating System - Linux

I have two xw6000 work stations which came pre-installed with XP. When I tried to install our standard Redhat 7.3 on these boxes, I found that we didn't have drivers for the network card nor for the disk drive. I don't see the drivers listed on the website. Anyone know where I can get them?

Well, strange issue, as Red Hat supports this product. Check on http://hardware.redhat.com/hcl/?pagename=details&hid=4820
Is your hard drive still the Maxtor, and your network card the Broadcom ?
On the page above, you'll get links to (re)download drivers.
Yours.

Thanks for the note. The network card is the broadcom 10/100/1000. The drive is a Seagate CPN-291244-001. I will follow your link to see if I can find the drivers.

Hi

If your NIC is bcm570x, then you may use either tg3 or bcm5700 driver. They are included in RedHat kernel. But the original tg3 driver in original RH7.3 kernel has a lock up bug. So my advice is use latest RH7.3 kernel and select either tg3 or bcm5700.

Do you find NIC setting in /etc/modules.conf?

alias eth0 bcm5700
alias eth0 tg3

Then you will see the eth0 by "ifconfig -a"

BTW what is the scsi chip of your xw6000?

Good luck.

Thanks for the help folks.
RH 9 recognized the AIC79xx chipset and the Broadcom NIC and installed correctly. Since our application was only certified on RH 7.3, I requested the HP version of RH7.3 from our local service rep. I successfully installed RH 7.3 (HPs CDs) using the 'recover' feature. The CDs are labeled "Red Hat Linux 7.3 with hp additions For use with xw systems"
P/N 322368-B21.
