Can anyone help me please with the configuration steps to setup an SMTP server on RHEL 5.4 system?

It is the normal, standard SendMail that runs on RHEL 5.4 - so if you're familiar with SendMail - there will be no difference.

Alzhy, So what you are saying is, SMTP setup is same as sendmail configuration. I was thinking it would be more configuration setup than just sendmail configurations.

Affirmative... Practically most MTA's (mail transport agents) on UNIX and Linux distros are SendMail. So administration, tips and tricks apply accross the board.

Hello,

By default, the MTA will be Sendmail.

To check it, run:

# /usr/sbin/alternatives --display mta
