Hi,

How/Where would I change the default ftp port(21) to something else? I'm running vsftpd and Red Hat 9.0. Thanks.

steps:
1. setup another port in /etc/services:
xftp 21000/tcp # File Transfer Protocol (Control)

2. edit /etc/inetd.conf file, add:
xftp stream tcp nowait root /usr/lbin/ftpd ftpd -l

3. read config by runing:
# inetd -c

4. test ftp service

You might be better off dropping ftp all together.

You can use openssh(install cd's) and require your users to use a secure ftp client. There are dozens of free sftp clients at tucows or download.com
