Freshly installed Redhat linux Enterprise 3.0 selecting EVERYTHING.
2. Hoping that all the commands are available tried to use mysqladmin command but it was not available.
3. Downloaded mysql-server-3.23.58-2.3.i386.rpm
4.Now mysqladmin command is available.
5. I am trying to create a nf database in mysql using #mysqladmin -u root create nf
6.Here it gives me an error as follows.
mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed
error: 'Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (111)'
Check that mysqld is running and that the socket: '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' exists

mysqld is not running
When I am trying to start the mysqld using safe_mysqld its just shows mysqld ended.

What cud be the problem?

Many Thanks in Advance.

Regards,
Syam
