What a strange issue... I feel that you'll have other packages missing... maybe a re-install should be usefull... Did you have a special install, like no developpment stuff ?
Whatesoever, you'll find your package here :
http://rpmseek.com/rpm-pl/make.html?hl=de&cbd=0:M:0::11
Good luck

Hi,

Sorry for replying late. it's due to the long May holiday ;-)

I have applied the rpm "make-3.79.1-292.i386.rpm" for the SuSE8. It then sussessfully links Oracle components of the Infrastructure of the 9iAS 9.0.2.

When I tried to install the next part (the Forms/Reports) of the Oracle 9iAS 9.0.2, there is an error, again it's related to linking components:

This is the error from Oracle Installer:

"error in invoking target runm_install of makefile
$ORACLE_HOME/reports/lib/ins_reports.mk "

In Oracle Support, it said that this error is due to the lack of rpm:

XFree86-devel.4.1.0-29.rpm

In the Web, I cannot find this rpm for SuSE, only in the RedHat web site, there is such rpm , and of course it's for Redhat Linux.

Could you please tell me how can I find this for SuSE8.0 ?

Thanks a lot.

are you sure it is the devel library? they are normally contain header files and other libraries normally needed for compiling from source? and that you are installing oracle, completely confuses me.

anyhow, if u are not able to locate from your Suse cd, try at
www.xfree86.org.

hth
-(a clueless) balaji

Balaji's astonishment is due !
In fact, it seems that your prob is linked to a false defintion of rights on your $oracle_home directory.
Read this, it applies to Suse 8.0 too :
http://www.suse.com/en/business/certifications/certified_software/oracle/db/9i_73.html
HTH
J
(now that you are back, why not assigning points ? ;-))

Hi,

Finally I have found all packages needed for Oracle Installation. All of them can be found in the Installation CDROMs of SUSE8 Pro. But, surprisingly there is no option to select all necessary stuffs (e.g. for Oracle). On previous version of SuSE (SuSE 7) there is "Almost Everything" option, which is very convenient.

Thanks for your help.
