    <description>Hi,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;We have 2 proliant ML110, one with RH9 and the other under 2000 server&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Works great BUT, I have just received DAT tape drive with their Adaptec SCSI card 29160 Ultra 160 (PCI 64 bits) and the problem is that the tape is not reconized bat Linux (but reconized under windows)&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I can see the SCSI card through lspci and the hardware navigator but nothing about st (tape) in dmesg &lt;BR /&gt;lspci :&lt;BR /&gt;04:05.0 SCSI storage controller: Adaptec AIC-7892A U160/m (rev 02)&lt;BR /&gt;04:06.0 RAID bus controller: Promise Technology, Inc.: Unknown device 6622 (rev 01)&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;in /proc/scsi/scsi I got :&lt;BR /&gt;Attached devices:&lt;BR /&gt;Host: scsi0 Channel: 00 Id: 00 Lun: 00&lt;BR /&gt;  Vendor: Promise  Model: 3 Disk RAID5     Rev: 1.10&lt;BR /&gt;  Type:   Direct-Access                    ANSI SCSI revision: 02&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;ls /proc/scsi :&lt;BR /&gt;FastTrak  scsi&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;nothing about adaptec&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;STRANGE !!!&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;BTW there is the promise raid card with 3 SATA disk (raid2+1) included in the proliant&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;is there a conflict between promise and adaptec  ? &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Anybody can help me ?</description>

      <description>Howdy,&lt;BR /&gt;I run fedora 1 with a 29160 with a dat autoloader on for playing about - I usually have to run "modprobe aic*" for it to load the driver so that I can see the tape drive underneath it. Run modprobe st as well if you have to. I suppose I should get it to load automatically with /etc/modules.conf or something. As ever - have a read of the man page.&lt;BR /&gt;HTH&lt;BR /&gt;Ian&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>here is the magic command :&lt;BR /&gt;modprobe aic*&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;to check :&lt;BR /&gt;lsmod&lt;BR /&gt;--&amp;gt; seen the aic7xxx_old and st modules loaded&lt;BR /&gt;dmesg&lt;BR /&gt;--&amp;gt; seen the tape st&lt;BR /&gt;st: Version 20020805, bufsize 32768, wrt 30720, max init. bufs 4, s/g segs 16&lt;BR /&gt;Attached scsi tape st0 at scsi1, channel 0, id 3, lun 0&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;mt -f /dev/st0 status&lt;BR /&gt;SCSI 2 tape drive:&lt;BR /&gt;File number=-1, block number=-1, partition=0.&lt;BR /&gt;Tape block size 0 bytes. Density code 0x0 (default).&lt;BR /&gt;Soft error count since last status=0&lt;BR /&gt;General status bits on (50000):&lt;BR /&gt; DR_OPEN IM_REP_EN&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;works great!!&lt;BR /&gt;thanks again !!&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>
