unable to conect using telnet in Debian linux

Hi All

Iam facing problems in conneting to a debian
linux server .The error is
Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused
But from the server I am able to connect to other server
All these days the same setup was working fine ..Can anybody help me in resolving this problem

Make sure you have the telnet daemon (in.telnetd) installed and running on your system. Without this, you won't be able to telnet into the machine.

As for telnet out of the box, i.e. to other system, the reason that works is that the other system probably has the telnet daemon running on it.

As a side note, telnet is disabled for a reason, i.e. its very insecure. Use SSH wherever possible in its place.

Hi Santhosh,

Telnet demaon was not present in the system ..
According to our policy we are not supposed to use telnet ...I have checked for the demon and was not present
