Linux server hangs intermitantly

Hi All

I have problem with a linux server with redhat linux 9 ..The system hangs and there will not be any display in the monotor

Can somebody tell me which are the files to be checked for finding the exact problem

Hi,

Mostly your hardware will have problems. some Check for Memorys / Hard disk for problems.

1. Are you able to make a telnet session and work while your display goes off from console and you feel that the machine is hanging?

Iam not able do telnet or ping onc ehte system is hanged ...Can you please let me know the log which I should check for analysing this ptoblem

agree - you should test CPU and RAM by running memtest and cpuburn, for example (you may run these tools from http://overclockix.octeams.com/ )

Try to boot in the single use mode by interrupting the LILO/GRUB at boot time.

Looks like Xserver problem.
