      <description>Hi Chan,&lt;BR /&gt;here it is an explanation:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;us = regular user apps&lt;BR /&gt;sy = system (general kernel stuff)&lt;BR /&gt;ni = nice user apps (low-priority tasks)&lt;BR /&gt;id = idle&lt;BR /&gt;wa = waiting for IO to complete&lt;BR /&gt;hi = hard interrupt (IRQ) handlers&lt;BR /&gt;si = soft interrupt handlers&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;( If you consider vmstat, it mixes ni into us, and hi and si into sy. )&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Differences between hard and soft interrupts?&lt;BR /&gt;Check the file in attachment, and this link:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;A href="http://cs1.cs.nyu.edu/web/Research/Theses/edler_jan.pdf" target="_blank"&gt;http://cs1.cs.nyu.edu/web/Research/Theses/edler_jan.pdf&lt;/A&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Best regards,&lt;BR /&gt;Alessandro</description>
