I knew one backup tool quite easy to backup and restore OS. I have tested this tool in RHEL AS3 and AS4, but only failed in root filesystem that was md device. You can download this from mkcdrec website.

http://www.mkcdrec.org

Regard
Ken Lee

Is anyone out there using an Ignite-like Linux tool to back up a Linux Red Hat Operating System? I use Ignite on HP to build, clone and restore systems. Since Ignite is not available on Linux, I am looking for a similar product to protect our Linux RH systems.

Hi,

on the commercial front,
HP has a product by name RDP which can do imaging of the system (cloning)
Novell has Zenworks suite which also can help you with it.

on the opensource front you can use Mondo, or Systemimager suite(http://www.sisuite.org) or ghost.

Hope this helps,
Gopi
