Hi

In mu opinion tar based software work the best for redhat.

You can either use command line tar backup or use a utility like kdat.

I think this way as I have been using it and found it easy to manage and restore as well.

Cheers

For Red Hat, the best software is "star", and I think that is not installed by default.

You can also search for a most elaborated solution, like Amanda.

Hi,

Why not using Mondo Rescue ?

http://www.mondorescue.org

Even if it is much more Disaster Recovery oriented than a true backup solution like "tar" for example.

Regards,
Lionel

In fact, there is no best software. The best software is the software the you best know how to use, the software that you can be sure that when you have a problem, you will restore the data.

The only software I know that may cause problems is dump/restore.
