Been here a while. Stuart Browne is still the master her, I just have more free time.

uname -a should give you the version of suse.

Install docs:

http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Printer_Configuration_from_SUSE_LINUX_9.1_on

http://www-uxsup.csx.cam.ac.uk/pub/doc/suse/suse9.3/suselinux-adminguide_en/sec.p.special.html

http://www.novell.com/products/suselinux/linuxservers.html

http://www.linuxquestions.org/linux/answers/Networking/CUPS_server_with_WinXP_clients_SuSE_9_1

I've given you a number of alternatives and there is overlap. My only experience with cups is helping a friend with the gui and helping diagnose a firewall created problem. You know, why can't I print, I did cups right.

If ever there is a job that never gets to the queue, I suspect iptables.

CUPS is an option on some Linux distributions, and I have not the foggiest idea how to add it to Suse if you don't have it already.

SEP

Shalom Michael,

You are correct CUPS is the way to go.

Make sure iptables is not running or port 631 is not blocked.

There is a GUI for cups configuration that you should try to make this less painful.

SEP
