We are using an Adaptec aic7899 Ultra160 SCSI adapter. We are running RH 7.3 on and IBM machine.<BR /><BR />The tape drive "disappears" from the OS every now and then. This requires a "rmmod st" and an "insmod st" or a reboot to get the tape drive back.<BR /><BR />The linuxtapecert.org also confirms that the above tape and scsi card is problematic. The latest RH7.3 kernel is 2.4.18-27.7.x.<BR /><BR />There are also two versions of the aic7xxx SCSI driver. Do a lsmod to see which one your are running (should be aic7xxx, not aic7xxx.old).
