Shalom,

With an ehnaced version of iLo software, not the base, you get a full gui console and can choose the boot disk or OS level to boot from the grub menu.

Requires a license but its not overly expensive.

SEP

Hello all,

We have DL380 G5's with SmartArray P400's and a couple of logical disks mirrored in pairs (RAID1).

I am looking for a way to select which of these logical disks should be booted - did not find anything in the BIOS.

Somebody advised me that this is possible with latest firmware and iLO, but I have received no details and could not find such a feature in the iLO documentation on HP's site.

Can anyone confirm whether it is possible with some version of firmware and iLO to choose the boot disk ?

Thanks for your help,
Michael

Hi Steven,

Thanks for that tip, I found the relevant docs in HP Integrated Lights-Out 2
User Guide, quote:

"iLO Advanced provides remote tools such as the graphic remote console"

"The Graphical Remote Console turns a supported browser into a virtual desktop, giving the user full control over the display, keyboard, and mouse of the host server. The operating system-independent console supports graphic modes that display remote host server activities, including shutdown and startup operations."

Seems that what I need would be an iLO 2 Advanced license.

My question is fully answered.

Best regards,
Michael

The solution seems purchasing a license for iLo Advanced.
