      <description>Dear Gurus &lt;BR /&gt;I have installed rhl 4 ws, on a HP Compaq DX2700 Microtower PC.&lt;BR /&gt;This machine has Realtec 8110S/8169S Gigabit ethernet card.&lt;BR /&gt;rhl 4, and suse 10, doesnt detect/installed the driver for rtl 8110S/8169S ethernet card&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Plz help what should I do .&lt;BR /&gt;I have attached "hwinfo --network", "hwinfo --netcard" and "dmidecode" output file.&lt;BR /&gt;Regards&lt;BR /&gt;Maaz&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>It sounds like the driver is not on the distribution.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Check the Realtek site below for the linux drivers.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;A href="http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&amp;amp;PNid=5&amp;amp;PFid=5&amp;amp;Level=5&amp;amp;Conn=4&amp;amp;DownTypeID=3&amp;amp;GetDown=false" target="_blank"&gt;http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&amp;amp;PNid=5&amp;amp;PFid=5&amp;amp;Level=5&amp;amp;Conn=4&amp;amp;DownTypeID=3&amp;amp;GetDown=false&lt;/A&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Download, and install the driver.  Then update the modprobe.conf file to include an alias line linking eth0 to the proper driver.</description>

      <description>Shalom Maaz,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I've noticed a disturbing trend from several hardware vendors with the notable exception of Dell. Entry level laptops and desktops are being released without Linux support. As a matter of fact, some effort seems to have been made to NOT support Linux.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;These models should be avoided. &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;To the maker's credit I will say that the online documentation of the system does not claim to have Linux support. &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;This trend does increase the cost of ownership of Linux because more expensive models are required to run it.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;SEP</description>
