I am trying to remotely administer a RedHat 9 machine. I am able to telnet to it without a problem. I am unable to start a remote X session with it via Reflection X. I am familiar with how to setup CDE in the HP-UX realm, but how do you remotely get an X session or gnome session with RedHat?

You can start gdmsetup as root and enable XDMCP from there. This should let you query the X server.

I think a great way to administer and to generally use a remote machine is VNC.

http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc

if it isn't already installed you can find it in RedHat CDs.

Ciao
Claudio

To complete what Claudio says, VNS viewer is on RH Cds, not VNC server (the administrated machine).
great software indeed, export displyas through TCP/IP.
Just be carefull as for password.
Use it everyday to monitor what my students really do behind their screens...
J
