    <description>Dear All,&lt;BR /&gt;I am unable to create a LVOL on Linux.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;vgdisplay -v vg00 shows::&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Loaded external locking library liblvm2clusterlock.so&lt;BR /&gt;    Using volume group(s) on command line&lt;BR /&gt;    Finding volume group "vg00"&lt;BR /&gt;  --- Volume group ---&lt;BR /&gt;  VG Name               vg00&lt;BR /&gt;  System ID&lt;BR /&gt;  Format                lvm2&lt;BR /&gt;  Metadata Areas        1&lt;BR /&gt;  Metadata Sequence No  13&lt;BR /&gt;  VG Access             read/write&lt;BR /&gt;  VG Status             resizable&lt;BR /&gt;  MAX LV                0&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;lvcreate -L 3G -n lvcrash vg00&lt;BR /&gt;  Error locking on node g1pdwap13: Volume group for uuid not found: zbMvwQsDfdtewXed5nuHCTzLnS0eTy1p58qjMbHgJMzCf6RSuWICbpitXX3LqyEp&lt;BR /&gt;  Failed to activate new LV.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;LVOL is created but is unavailab&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 4 (Nahant Update 5)le.&lt;BR /&gt;I tried doing &lt;BR /&gt; &lt;BR /&gt;root@pdwap13:~# lvchange -ay /dev/vg00/lvcrash&lt;BR /&gt;  Error locking on node g1pdwap13: Volume group for uuid not found: zbMvwQsDfdtewXed5nuHCTzLnS0eTy1p58qjMbHgJMzCf6RSuWICbpitXX3LqyEp&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Any suggestion are highly appreciated.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Thanks&lt;BR /&gt;MArvik&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>You are using cluster locking, then you need to start the clvmd service, or disable cluster locking if this host is not part of a cluster.</description>

      <description>&lt;BR /&gt;lvcreate -n logical_volume_one   --size 255G volume_group_one &lt;BR /&gt;Instead of specifying the LV size in GB we could also specify it in terms of logical extents. First we use vgdisplay to determine the number of PEs in the volume_group_one:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;vgdisplay volume_group_one | grep "Total PE"&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;which returns&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Total PE   65536&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Then the following lvcreate command will create a logical volume with 65536 logical extents and fill the volume group completely:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>
