When I run showmount -e, it doesn't give me back anything just sitting there without the prompt coming back? Do you think anything to do with the NFS related?

Looks like a problem with your network configuration files, problably, hostname resolution.

Try showmount -e localhost. That should work.

Thank you it is working, I found the problem in my /etc/hosts file. Once I fixed that showmount is working. But still my modified file is not working which I specified in my earlier thread.
