Linux and FC 1Gb/2Gb

I have a Linux RedHat 7.3 and I installed a QLogic QLA2310 and I attached it to switch.
The link is not good.
What do I do?

Did the install work ?

Try another cable you know that works.
If it solves, then change the cable.
Try ifconfig to see what is your network like, and then (under X), neat to check for configuration.

Hello!

Try to connect the cable to other connect point
on the switch, also try to replace the cabel.
Do you have other machines with FC that connected to that switch? they ok?

Its a FC Storage adapter,so guys please
don't advise ifconfig actions :)

1)check with lspci, cat /proc/scsi/scsi.
2)if the switch is Brocade - portshow,what kind
of port is mentioned there (f-port or else)
3)if this is direct connect - then to what storage (emc etc)?

I have problem to download the pdf file please send me the URL.
About the SAN this is a VA7410.
With lspci I have the following line:
01:03.0 Fibre Channel: QLogic Corp. QLA2300 64-bit FC-AL Adapter (rev 01)

with cat /proc/scsi/scsi I have
Attached devices: none

The switch status change from Marginal/warning to Healthy/OK

Ok,I can't find the link for the pdf.
Anyway,the card is installed but va can't be
seen.
What it can be?

It has all hp docs on va-74xx.I would first check the compatibility.
2)How VA is connected , through switch (if Brocade - then run supportShow,portshow and attach them as zip in your post)?If this is
a direct connect then I'd check also cable.

3)what linux kernel is used - default for RedHat 7.3 (its 2.4.18 I think) or else.

the va is connected through a switch, I send you the portshow output.
The kernel is:

If the problem is intermittant, suspect the cabling first, the port on the switch second, the card third.

Do diagnostics in that order.

Replace the cable.

Change the switch port if possible

Try a different card.

This thing is on the hardware list and came with valid drivers. I am assuming that in this case.

1)it's not in fabric login with switch
2)loss of signal=no light
3)port physical state - no sync and offline.

to see report on all port states use
porterrshow.As SEP says try a different port,GBIC,cable.Have you tried to use FC/SAN
on that Linux computer before with another peers?
