scsi logging facility

Hi,
we have problems to get the disk_io values inside our server-monitoring (HotSaNIC).
The problem is, that the command "cat /proc/stat" has no entry for the disk_io :-(

The standard kernel 2.4.19 of SuSE Enterprise 8 had "scsi logging facility" disabled, so we compiled new kernel 2.4.21 with this option enabled.
But nothing changed, the problems remains...

We're running HP ProLiant DL580 with SuSE Enterprise Server 8.

so, how can we get the disk_io values for our system ?

Check the sysstat set (includes iostat,sar etc)

thanks for this really goog hint, but I would prefer a solution to retrieve the information directly from e.g. /proc on my own, not by using a different set of tools.

first the sysstat set actually uses /proc,so
if it works BUT you're unable to get stats directly - should point on some problem.
2.4.21 kernel also has a lot of patches,rc1-to-rc8.See here for all patches fixes.
