Hello all,

I have a intranet server running red hat verison 4. I want that to be upgraded to version 5 and at the same time, I need to make sure that none of the data is deleted. What is the best way to do it. I knew , We can do a installer option which will save data under /home. Is there any other way I can do this by which I can say that all data under all of root filesystem ( / ) is safe ?. Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the response. Is there any document or manual out there which explains how to go about upgrading the servers from a remote location. Appreciate any help as always.

Hi.

I don't have any documentation, you can find it easily in the net.

Although hi highly recommend that you do the upgrade thru a console ( ILO for HP Servers ). This will prevent to lost access to the server.

Regards
