Hi All,

Greetings to you all!!!...

I have joined a new process and there we have following servers. I need to manage these servers which includes Patching, backups and restores. I need your advice if we have O/S patches available? if yes, from where can i get them. I would appreciate you help.

Solaris 8

Solaris 9

Solaris 10

Linux 2.6

ScoUnix

Regards,

Philemon

Since Sun was bought by Oracle, the primary source for Solaris support is now the Oracle Corporation.

I think Oracle now requires you to have a support agreement to get patches.

Solaris 8: NOTE: end of support for this version is scheduled for March 2012, so if you want to get Solaris 8 systems patched, make sure your support agreement is in order and get the patches ASAP.

Solaris 9 and 10: still supported by Oracle.

Linux 2.6: not enough information; this could mean any non-ancient Linux distribution and version. These commands might allow you to identify the name and version of the distribution:

cat /etc/*-release /etc/*-version
cat /etc/motd

ScoUnix: this once was a good UNIX-type OS, but since the company that owns it has wasted the last 10 years in lawsuits instead of developing its products, I would not expect much technical support from this company. You're probably very much on your own with this legacy OS.
