Hi,

This is what I use to manually send a coldstart trap to SIM so that it knows to discover a server.

snmptrap -v 1 -c public <DEST_IP> "" <SOURCE_IP> 0 0 0

Where <SOURCE_IP> is the machine sending the trap and <DEST_IP> is the machine we're sending the trap to.

The first "0" means "coldStart" trap.

On the machine you're sending the trap to (machine receiving the trap), do you see any output from tcpdump?

tcpdump -i eth0 port snmptrap

Also, on the machine that's supposed to be sending the trap, if you run tcpdump, do you see anything going out to the machine you're sending the trap to?

tcpdump -I eth0 host <HOST_YOU>

Rigoberto</HOST_YOU></DEST_IP></SOURCE_IP></SOURCE_IP></DEST_IP>

Hi all,
I installed SIM on my customer and I installed the psp on Linux system, I discovered the servers in the correct way, but I want to send generic trap so the servers can register under HP Database for open auto call in case of HW problem.
the port 2381 is close, so I can't create generic trap from system home page, I would like to send generic trap by command line from linux server.
I tried to use snmptrap command but I didn't receive trap, the port 162 is open because in the same network I've windows server and it work well.
could you help me?

thank you in advanced
regards
