Redhat 7.1 LVM

I am trying to install LVM on my Redhat 7.1 box.

I need to compile modules for LVM and not make
them inbuilt in the kernel. Do I have to re-build a whole new kernel to compile a module or can I just compile the modules for LVM and include them a loadable modules.

If this is possible do you know of sources showing how to compile just a module not a whole kernel

AFAIK, when you modify the .config file, you'll have to recompile the complete kernel and not just the modules.
