My experience is that it could be between 6-18 months.

It depends on the complexity of the software(SG), and how much resources HP puts into it.

As a customer, you can request they proceed more quickly.

I don't work for HP, I'm just reporting based on experience.

SEP

When will be available SG for version 4? We're looking forward to it (because of new packages in v4).

HP is a wonderful company. I love working with them, best support in the business.

One of the reasons they are the best is because they don't jump quickly. Before they add support they very thoroughly test.

This improves quality control a great deal.

SEP

No doubt. But this is not the question ;-)

I'm interested in how long does it take for HP (on the average) to come out with the new version? It may be worth waiting as we can install the required services making less effort using v4.

KrisztiÃ

Serviceguard for new distributions (we consider RedHat 4 to be a different distribution than RedHat 3) can take some time because we sometime find bugs in the new distributions that affect Serviceguard. We also have to generate new RPMs and therefore new CDs, etc. This has to be scheduled in conjunction with any new Servicegaurd features

All I can say now is that we have started the process. It is expected to be a release that has the same features as A.11.16. Ask your sales rep to contact the development team if you are interested in "early release" bits.
