Hallo,

ich habe mal eine Frage bezüglich eines Firmware Updates auf HPE SAS Platten.

Ich habe mehrere HPE SAS Platten (EG0300FBLSE mit FW HPD5) an einem SAS Kontroller von LSI (kein HP Raid Kontroller)
Der Firmwareupdater findet weder unter Windows oder unter Linux die Festplatte. Meine Vermutung ist, das der Updater nach einem HP Kontroller sucht. Kann das jemand bestätigen oder hat jemand eine Idee wie ich die Firmware HPD8 auf die Platten gespielt bekomme? Wenn ich das Firmwarepaket auseinander nehme liegt dort eine S6CMPSD8.rel.fw
Diese müsste sich doch auch anders aufspielen lassen? Leider habe ich im Web keine infos darüber gefunden.

I have a question about a firmware update on HPE SAS disks.

I have several HPE SAS disks (EG0300FBLSE with FW HPD5) on a SAS controller from LSI (no HP Raid controller)
The firmware update does not find the hard disk under Windows or Linux. My guess is that the updater is looking for an HPE controller. Can someone confirm this or does someone have an idea how I can get the firmware HPD8 on the disks? If I take the firmware package apart there is an S6CMPSD8.rel.fw
Should it be possible to play it differently? Unfortunately I have not found any information about it on the web.

Drive firmware update goes through controller so it may not work since HPE drive attached to Non HPE controller .

You need to connect HPE drives to HPE server/HPE smart array controllers.

Thank you for the info. I ordered an HP Smart Array controller. Will report whether it worked.

I can report success. It actually only works with an HP controller. It also seems that the firmware is encrypted.
