      <description>hi&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;i need to add a LUN to my existing production server which is running oracle BI and test servers.&lt;BR /&gt;when the LUN is shown to the SLES 10 SP1 (x86_64) server from the eva440&lt;BR /&gt;can i run /opt/hp/hp_fibreutils/probe-luns as root user without affecting the existing applications?&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>Yes you can. But sometimes, Linux is not capable to recognize the LUN and a reboot is needed.</description>

      <description>In fact, you need to run hp_rescan -a. probe-luns is run during startup.</description>

      <description>can you please let me know if running hp_rescan will affect existing mountpoints. can i run it without affecting the running application.&lt;BR /&gt;hp_rescan -a&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;where sud the &lt;BR /&gt;probe-luns&lt;BR /&gt;command be placed? in the boot.local?&lt;BR /&gt;what are the parameters. i am unable to find any good docs on the same.&lt;BR /&gt;can u plz help me with that too?</description>

      <description>Hello,&lt;BR /&gt;check this page &lt;A href="http://www.garloff.de/kurt/linux/" target="_blank"&gt;http://www.garloff.de/kurt/linux/&lt;/A&gt; and try Rescan SCSI bus script, I think it worked in our case (RH + Eva6000) but not sure.       <description>I've never had a problem with it.  In fact, one of my pre-certification tests for large ssytems is to run it in a loop for an hour.</description>

      <description>once you run the fibreutils then run multipath command &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;if you use nice-names then edit the /etc/multipath.conf file and run multipath again.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>well,&lt;BR /&gt;i never got a chance to do this till now. storage fellow keeps asking me to manage with existing stuff and keeping moving tarring unwanted stuff. &lt;BR /&gt;but sooner or later i will do it.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;by the following sentence:&lt;BR /&gt;once you run the fibreutils then run multipath command&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;if i understood correctly:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;i should run&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;1. hp_rescan -a&lt;BR /&gt;this should be the first step. i hope this wont affect the existing storage mappings&lt;BR /&gt;2. multipath -d &lt;BR /&gt;this will do a dry run.&lt;BR /&gt;how do I know this is dry run is correct. what should i see in the output&lt;BR /&gt;3. multipath ?? whats this command?</description>
