Shalom,

None of the low end HP Pavillian laptops support Linux at all.

The mid grade laptops and above, cost more money but do support Linux. You might find better hardware support with Linux RHEL/CentOS 5 update 4 versus one.

As noted by Ivan, hardware support is much, much better with Ubuntu or Fedora

SEP

Hi Guys,
Can anyone help, can I know if there is any model of HP notebook that can support Redhat Linux 5.1 server. This is because I have tested on HP Elitebook 6930p which even I can install Redhat , the function key on the laptop cannot work. I only need some of the key to work, namely switching video to external monitor cause I need to do presentation on projector. Can anyone advice??

Regards
Vincent

Probably is better if you use a desktop distro like ubuntu or fedora for your notebook and then a virtualization software (Xen, Virtual Box, Vmware) for your RHEL 5.1.

using virtualbox will run RHE, ofcourse you'll have it running in a VM, which might be all you need depending on what you want to do with it.
