Shalom,

Documentation.

Not sure its right, but it is worth a look.

It doesn't look promising to me actually being able to do this.

http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/enterprise/RHEL-5-manual/release-notes/RELEASE-NOTES-x86-en.html

The hypervisor included in this release of Virtualization is not NUMA-aware; as such, its performance on NUMA machines may be sub-optimal. This will be addressed in a future update of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.

Might want to see if this 4.x procedure works on 5.x

http://kbase.redhat.com/faq/docs/DOC-17685

This doc says it works:
http://www.mail-archive.com/libvir-list@redhat.com/msg10579.html

http://www.centos.org/docs/5/html/Installation_Guide-en-US/ch-bootopts-x86.html

SEP

Hello,

NUMA support is not enabled in kernel by default in RedHat5.3. (HW is HP Blade 460c G6 w/. two Xeon X5570 CPU’s and 24 (6x4) GB memory, kernel is 2.6.18PAE) . By recompiling kernel on with NUMA support and rebooting with new kernel, there is still one node is visible with numactl --hardware, and in dmesg logs I have an error:

kernel: get_memcfg_from_srat: assigning address to rsdp
kernel: RSD PTR v2 [HP ]
ACPI: Too big length in RSDT: 104
failed to get NUMA memory information from SRAT table
kernel: NUMA - single node, flat memory mode

RedHat knowledge base referring only to RedHat 4 for NUMA Nehalem support.

Does anyone have a clue how to enable NUMA support for RedHat 5.3?
That was of course checked before.

I would appreaciate a specific instruction of how to properly enable NUMA support. It seems there is no document about it for 5x release.
