Question about RHEL 5.5 and PSP 8.50

Hi,
We are trying to upgrade psp 8.30 to 8.50 in RHEL 5.5 now. Here are some questions:
1. Do we have to use hpsum? Can we run rpm -Uvh *.rpm directly to install the packages we need? (hpsum brings a lot of extra libs and we never use X in our servers.)
2. When I use hpsum to install psp, I didn't get any warnings/errors in the log /var/hp/log/xxx.log. But at the end of the log, we have "HPSUM exiting with status: The installation of the component failed". I have manually installed some rpm packages, then I got "version is not supported" error. Is that the only reason why installation failed?
3. If PSP 8.50 hasn't support RHEL 5.5 now, when will the new version be released ?

Shalom,

1. You can use rpm -Uvh, though you may not want to install every single package.

2. This error MAY be due to a lack of HP support for RHEL 5.5. In the past I've seen it take six months after OS release for HP PSP to support the new OS. HP has told me the process really takes 90 days.

3. I don't work for HP, but generally you need to wait 90-180 days after the OS release.

Along the same lines as the first question. In the past there was an installXXX.sh command. Is there a way to run the PSP installation from the command line?

You can try with ./hpsum.
If you don't have / don't want to use graphic mode, try with ./hpsum /s. You can find the installation log in /var/hp/log
