Hi there --

We are running Fedora Core 2 with the Gnome desktop on one of our systems. Typically when an application is minimized, it appears on the taskbar. However, for some unknown reason any application now simply 'disappears', and is accessibly exclusively via the ALT-TAB key combination.

What could have caused this, and how can it be corrected? Thanks.

Shalom,

I have found that removing gnome desktop and X Windows and reinstalling resets and corrects these issues in newer releases of Fedora/Red Hat.

Usually I do it with yum.

SEP
We ran into this with our users that were accessing multiple desktops and the taskbar settings were not set to show all applications on all desktops. Don't know if this is applicable or if you've already tried it, but something to check and save a reinstall if you haven't.

Dana

Do you have the "window list" applet/tool added to your panel(taskbar).
If not try this:

right clisk on empty space on panel(taskbar).
select Add to panel
select window list from the huge list of applets provided.

Now you will be able to see wht you want to see.

Right clicking on the taskbar, click on properties, make sure expand is on and autohide is off Right clicking on the lower right of the taskbar (the workspaces) will give you access to the workspace preferences where you can eliminate the extras or configure them to show all applications.

Dana
