You might want to take a look at the SmartStart Scripting Toolkit for Linux

http://www.hp.com/servers/sstoolkit

I don't know all the features Ignite provides, but using the SSSTK you can configure the hardware and deploy the OS. It's all done with bash scripting.

I use it daily. You can run it from PXE, CD/DVD, or USB key

and it's free.....

We just installed our first Red Hat linux machines.
I need some input from the forums on what product to use on linux that would provide the functionality that ignite does in HP-UX.
Of course, cost is a factor.
Please note that all points will be assigned at the time of thread closure.

TIA for any and all input.

-dl

I think that mondorescue.org is a good solution. SystemImager could be. Red Hat kickstart may help also.

I use mondorescue and kickstart.

Mondorescue is able to backup and create a bootable image of the operating system.

Kickstart allows you to automate or replicate the installation configuration, but it's a new installation using answer files.

I appreciate all the valued input and options provided.
We are going to start with Provisioning Pack for Grid Control which is part of the Oracle Support purchased.
Should that not work out, I will refer back to this thread.

Thanks to all respondents.

Regards,

dl
