I need to run an os Red Hat Linux on hp server(entry level or desktop) what model would be feasible.

Because you ask in the hp-ux subforum, I would suggest the rx2660 (maybe the office friendly version)

I don't know what your plans are, but if you need a server to test and develope software for different OS, you should have a look for a combination of an Integrity server and Integrity virtual machines:

Using this you can run HP-UX, win and Linux at the same time even on a entry class server.

Since you mention "(entry level or desktop)" in your question, I interpret that to mean "very inexpensive".

If you want a real server class machine, have a look at the DL3xx series machines.

I am running SuSE Linux on several DL380 G5 machines.

Here is information on all the rack mount DL-series Intel based (NOT Itanium) servers. It looks like the DL100 series may also be an option for you

If you don't need rack mount, check here for the ML series servers. I believe the ML are pretty much the same specs as the DL, but are tower instead of rack mount.

"Entry level servers or Desktop computers" statement narrows down the choice in servers. Look for the ML100 series servers which are are very much like desktops or workstations. The specifications are also more or less like a desktop computer. The only difference is they are Industry Standard Servers.

Especially the ML110 G4 (Intel CPU based) and ML115 (AMD CPU based) can be very good starters.

Of course you can configure the server with the hardware you want, but expect an increase in the cost.
