topic Upgrading from RedHat AS3 to AS4 in Operating System - Linux

I'm about to upgrade shortly and have a question which I hope the forum can answer.

Wehn Upgrading it recommends the re-install option rather than upgrade, along with the backup and restore your data.

My quesdtion is: Is it possible to reinstall the OS and then just remount your filesystems or do you need to recreate these and then restore from backup.

Thanks

Shalom,

It is possible to do the install and NOT format certain filesystems with your data. You can even configure what the mountpoint name will be.

Example.

I have the normal filesystems like /usr and I have one called /data

/usr must be reformated to instal AS4. /data need not be reformated, it can be set up and untouched.

Summary: Yes. You can. Read carefully, have a backup before you proceed.

SEP
