topic weird output from iostat in Operating System - Linux

All,
I am getting from one of rh box:
avg-cpu: %user %nice %sys %idle
3.67 49.33 44.67 2.33
Device: rrqm/s wrqm/s r/s w/s rsec/s wsec/s avgrq-sz avgqu-sz await svctm %util

I am particularly interested in await and svctm. But as you can see, there's no value for them when I ran iostat with -x option taking 20 samples per 3 seconds. I am running rh7.1 and kernel-2.4.2-2. Does any one have any idea why this is not working? Thanks.
