Hi There

RHEL Version 4. I solved the problem late friday by re-installing the cups printers drivers using cupsaddsmb. I had originally done this but then upgraded the driver with the latest version from HP using the method as root from a windows client. I think there must be issues with this driver with samba.

TIA

Steve

Hi, I am going to post this in a couple of sections as i'm not sure where it should be.

I have a laserjet 970Cxi printer (along with a few others) setup on a print server with CUPS and Samba.

I have installed HPLIP drivers

http://hplip.sourceforge.net/

And choose the 970C driver when addding the printer via CUPS.

I have Samba configured for cups printing so that all printers are available via samba.

When I try to connect to view the printer properties in windows I get the following error.

function address 0x6062c92f caused a protection fault (exception code 0xc0000005) Some or all property pages may not be displayed.

I have a feeling its driver related and came across another post that suggested similar

http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2002-April/042263.html

Unfortunately the suggested driver isn't installed via the HPLIP driver

Can anyone help ?

TIA

Steve

Steven,

What flavor of linux are you running?

I am running debian linux, and had problems printing to my HP5000N. I upgraded my ghostscript & was able to print.

Run & see if your printer is there;
# gs -h
